The environmentally home is located at 522 Taylor Street in Lexington, Virginia. All of the above grade walls are constructed of pre-cast concrete walls, supplied by Superior Walls of Central Virginia located in Amelia, VA. The roof and integrated second floor are made of SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels), supplied by SIPs of America located in Danville, VA. The property is located next to a Lexington City playground, so a pre-cast fence was installed by East Coast Precast of Amelia, VA for privacy. The home contains many innovative earth friendly products, and designed for superior energy savings.

Superior Walls are pre cast concrete walls, which can be used both below and above ground. All of the walls are custom, insulated to exceed building codes and pre-studded for easy finishing. The walls require no additional water proofing, and are guaranteed to be dry. The entire Taylor Street project was set by Superior Walls in one day. Superior Walls are very green building compatible, energy and time saving.

On August 21st 2008, Superior Walls of Upstate New York installed the foundation system for the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” show in Geneva, New York.  This foundation is number thirteen for Superior Walls of America and the popular show.  Gary Hess, the local franchisee of Superior Walls, explains why their foundation’s system is the perfect fit for the program. First, they’re fast. Superior Walls are a precast manufactured product that is delivered to the job site and set in less than a day by certified crews.  Being on such a strict time line, Ty and the rest of the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team are able to begin work on the new houses much quicker than usual. Second, when you choose the Superior Walls foundation system, it’s very easy to add valuable living space to your home because the walls are already studded and ready for wiring, plumbing, added insulation and drywall.  Superior Walls can double the square footage of a single-story house. This extra space makes it easy to meet every family’s needs in their new home. And, last but not least, the Superior Walls foundation system is a totally green product. Superior Walls reduce energy leakage, lower energy utilities, save valuable natural resources, reduce on-site soil contamination and reduce jobsite waste. This fits the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” green theme perfectly.

The “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” projects would ordinarily take at least four months to achieve, but this team of designers, contractors and several hundred workers have just seven days to totally rebuild an entire house: every single room, plus the exterior and landscaping.
